Akagera National Park

Akagera National Park

Akagera National Park Overview

Akagera National Park is Rwanda’s only savannah park, offering a classic safari experience with diverse wildlife, including lions, elephants, rhinos, buffalo, and leopards. Thanks to successful conservation efforts, Akagera is now home to the “Big Five” and boasts vast grasslands, woodlands, and wetlands.

The best time to visit is during the dry seasons from June to September and December to February when animals congregate around water sources, making wildlife viewing easier.

Luxury accommodation options include Magashi Camp, while Ruzizi Tented Lodge and Karenge Bush Camp offer mid-range and budget-friendly choices.Activities in Akagera include game drives, boat safaris on Lake Ihema, birdwatching, and night safaris to observe nocturnal predators in action.
