Queen Elizabeth National Park

Queen Elizabeth National Park

Queen Elizabeth National Park Overview

Queen Elizabeth National Park is one of Uganda’s most diverse ecosystems, offering a mix of savannah, wetlands, and forests. The park is famous for its tree-climbing lions in the Ishasha sector, as well as large elephant herds, hippos, and over 600 bird species.

The best time to visit is during the dry seasons (June to September and January to February), which are ideal for wildlife viewing. The wet season brings lush vegetation and an increase in birdlife.

Lodges such as Mweya Safari Lodge provide stunning views of the Kazinga Channel, while budget options include tented camps and guesthouses.

Activities include game drives to spot predators and herbivores, boat cruises along the Kazinga Channel for up-close encounters with hippos and crocodiles, and chimpanzee trekking in the Kyambura Gorge.
