Kibale National Park

Kibale National Park

Kibale National Park Overview

Kibale National Park is known as the “Primate Capital of the World,” home to 13 primate species, including the highest concentration of chimpanzees in Africa. The park’s dense forests also host red colobus monkeys and rare L’Hoest’s monkeys.

The best time to visit is from June to September and December to February when chimpanzee tracking conditions are ideal.

Luxury lodges such as Primate Lodge Kibale offer an immersive forest experience, while budget options include community-run guesthouses.

Chimpanzee trekking is the main attraction, providing an opportunity to observe these intelligent primates up close. Other activities include birdwatching, nature walks, and visiting Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, which is rich in biodiversity.
